After a quieter end of October I came back with the biggest step yet: a second town.
Port Solano is a hot harbour town on an island in the south, with pastel houses, bunting across the streets and a lighthouse at the end of the quay. It is about two minutes away by plane, and you fly the plane yourself.
The first plane is the Tern 180, a small high-wing aircraft with four seats and room for one pallet, sold by Barlow at the airfield. The controls are simple on purpose: the mouse (or the number pad) steers, W and S set the power, A and D work the rudder, and holding Alt lets you look around the plane while it keeps its course. Two bigger planes followed the same day: the Drover, which carries three pallets up a ramp under its tail, and the Comet, which carries five and is a lot faster.
Flying is not a minigame stuck on the side. It is how the late game moves goods: you load pallets at home, fly them south and sell them to a buyer at Port Solano's strip.
My favourite part is the first approach: the island comes up over the nose, the town gets bigger, and you line up for the strip with the sea glittering under the wing.
